For some people being able to attend church regularly is not possible based on employment, family or other obligations that must be taken care of. Perhaps they travel in their work, have child care responsibilities that make getting to church as often as they would like, just not possible. Yet, these same people want to find a way to stay in touch with their religious beliefs, to be able to listen to sermons. The internet has provided an answer to this with Christian podcasting.

Christian podcasting is the answer for so many people because it provides them with constant access to religious teachings at their convenience. No longer must they worry about what time a show is on the radio or television or if they can get to the church in time for services. Podcasts are always there and so can be listened to at the person’s convenience. They can even be downloaded onto an MP3 or IPod to enjoy at any time. This means being able to listen to a sermon when on a walk in the park, a long drive or doing housework. All a person needs to do is to subscribe to a podcast service that has the types of Christian podcasts that are right for them. Then they are automatically downloaded to the person’s computer waiting to be listened to when the time is right.

More and more Christian ministries are using this tool to reach more potential followers a well as those who currently are aligned with a church. They believe that this method of delivering religious content may even make more young people interested in listening to sermons, or other religious teachings, because of the media used. They feel that younger people are tuned into their computers and the technology that it employs. Therefore, seeing their church use the same technology could show them that religion can be fun, modern and still meaningful. Christian podcasting may be the wave of the future as it reaches out to those who are housebound as well as those who prefer to make their own time for their religious studies.
